Don't call them Rookies

For both Billy Parker and Jerald Brown, they feel that they have been labeled unfairly. They are CFL rookies, with even Jerald Brown being named the teams rookie of the year nominee. The two defensive backs are 28 years old and have both being playing professional football for some time.

Jim Popp worked his magic once again, as he was able to poach these two gems from the now defunct Arena Football League. Both players have played in the Arena Bowl, both players have tasted championships before...except the Grey Cup. Parker and Brown will both admit they their knowledge of the history of the Grey Cup is limited but feel they know what it means to the Alouettes, even if they havent felt the sour taste of defeat like many of their teammates last year.

If you take a look at all of the starters that played in the Grey Cup last year in Montreal you'll really only find any differences on the defence. Chip Cox is still there, he's just playing Linebacker, Shea Emry is in the mix. But the big change comes Billy Parker and Jerald Brown at the Half-back position. Mark Estelle, Davis Sanchez still hold their spot. Parker and Brown bring a dynamic presence on the defence that they haven't had in years. The two have combined, including in the playoffs for 7 interceptions this season.

The bottom line is that both Parker and Brown came to Montreal to win a championship. They were probably the two biggest unknowns and biggest surprises of the season. They may still be learning about the CFL and the Grey Cup, but when it comes down to it, football is just football and gamebreakers are gamebreakers no matter what size of field you put them on.
